PERC Writing Assessment

Thank you for participating in the PERC Writing Assessment.
No matter how frequently or how seldom you write, you want to achieve your goal––to get results. The assessment you are about to take will help you pinpoint your strengths, gather feedback from peers about your effectiveness when you write to them, and identify areas for improvement.
In the Effectiveness/Results section, you will respond to questions asking you to draw conclusions about your results when you write. These questions will, of course, be subjective. If you choose to invite peers to complete a brief questionnaire, you will have objective data to compare to your own. Other questions in this section will ask you to identify the best expression of an idea.
In the Productivity section, you will respond to questions about your writing process and habits.
In the Clarity/Grammar section, each question will present a sentence containing an error or clarity problem, and options a-d will list possible errors. You will be asked to identify the error.

Directions
Answer each question as honestly as you can, based on your TYPICAL writing tasks and results. As you move through the assessment, you will see the value of having peer feedback, as well, to validate your own perceptions about your writing.
This assessment should take about 20-25 minutes.
The peer assessment you'll invite colleagues to complete about your writing will take about 3-5 minutes.
